Facilities

Main building
The main building, built in 1955, is known as the “Big House”, and dedicated to Father Janíček in 2024. The Big house is where the camp director’s office, the kitchen and the dining room are located. There are also two restrooms and four bedrooms which are reserved for the members of the association, staff and volunteers of Hostýn.

Kitchen
Found in the main building, the kitchen is equipped with two stoves, refrigerators and freezers. It underwent renovations in 2020.

Dining room
The dining room within the Big House was built in 1956. About 60 people can be seated in the dining room. The picture windows provide a perfect view of the surrounding forests and meadows.

Playground & Meadow
The swings and various meadows are often used by children as a playground for their games.

Tombola Stand, Volleyball Field and Stage
This outdoor kitchen/tombola is used to sell or distribute food during a special event and is used as a kitchen by families the rest of the time. Two refrigerators, a stove, a sink with running water and electrical outlets are found in the stand. In front of it, picnic tables donated by M. Tom Silber and a stage is available for visitors.

Boy’s Camp
Eleven cabins placed in a circle are used by the boys participating in the summer camp. Each cabin is equipped with three beds, one small table and one electrical outlet. During the summer camp, children are encouraged to keep their cabins clean with cabin checks and a point system. The A frame cabin is used by the counselors. In the middle of the circle formed by the cabins, campfires are often held. Three dry toilets are found in the woods near the cabins. The clubhouse is nearby.

Boy's Clubhouse
This post and beam building houses a ping-pong table, pool table, couches, television and a refrigerator. It is used as a music and play room.

Girl’s camp
Eleven cabins placed in a circle are used by the girls participating in the summer camp. Each cabin is equipped with three beds, one small table and one electrical outlet. During the summer camp, children are encouraged to keep their cabins clean with cabin checks and a point system. A twelfth cabin is used by the counselors. In the middle of the circle formed by the cabins, campfires are often held. Three dry toilets are found in the woods near the cabins and the wash house building is nearby.

Girl's Camp Wash House
Built in 2002, this building contains two sinks, three toilets and three showers.

Girl's Clubhouse
This spacious clubhouse is home to our library of hundreds of Czech and Slovak books. The space is filled with tables and benches for a variety of activities. There is a corner of the room that holds space for a nostalgic media centre, with a DVD and VHS player. The board games and arts and crafts are a popular activity during the children's camp.

Chapel
A peaceful space for prayer and contemplation. 30 people can be seated in the chapel for special occasions. The bell was brought to Camp Hostýn from the province of Saskatchewan.

Soccer Field
A large open field, used for soccer and games during the children's camp, that one passes by en route to Camp Hostýn.

Marodka
This building is used as lodging for the groundskeeper and camp host and as a laundry room for staff members. Four showers are also available for visitors.

Beach
Bought in 2003, the beach is located on the Lafond Lake. It is home to our camp's dock. Our beach is enjoyed with sunbathing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking.

Cabins
Each cabin is equipped with three beds, three shelves, one small table, a clothing rod with hangers and one electrical outlet.

A Frame
This cabin is in the boy’s camp and can lodge 4 people. It serves as the boy's counselor's cabin during the children's camp.
