Hostýn Camp
|
Hostýn Camp is the ideal place to relax or to enjoy various activities alone or with family. Visitors can take advantage of our private beach on the Lafond Lake to swim and to do some canoeing. At the main camp site, a volleyball field and a soccer field can be used by sports lovers. The forest is great for hiking expeditions, mushroom picking or simply nature observation. The camp’s Club House is used to play ping-pong and table games. At night, several campfire sites are available. During the summer months, many events are organized such as pig roastings, an annual picnic and a Halloween party.
The annual picnic is held in August and is a good opportunity to taste some Czech food and to take part in various special activities. Lodging at the camp is offered at very low prices. Furthermore, members of the Hostýn Asociation are offered a price reduction.
Hostýn Camp is the property of the non-profit Hostýn Association, Inc. It is located about 80 km North-East form Montreal, near the town of St-Calixte. It occupies 9 hectares of the Laurentians forest. The camp was founded in 1954 by the Jesuit Bohuslav Janíčkek and summer camps for children were there held since. ( For more information, visit the Camp History section.)
On camp site we can find, amongst other things, a main building with a dining room, 24 cabins, 2 activity buildings, a restroom building with showers and toilets, 2 sports fields, a church and a screen for film projections. Each cabin has 3 beds and an electric outlet. ( For more information, visit the Facilities section.)
